Newst 10 Interior Design Ideas Poised to Dominate in 2025

The main trend in interior design in 2025 will be comfort. Hence the resulting fashion trends – comfortable soft sofas, pleasant to the touch textiles, natural colors, an abundance of plants and natural light.

Designers told which trends should be taken into account if you are doing repairs right now or are planning to start them in the near future.

One of the main trends of the next year will be interiors in the Japanese style. “A sense of space, lightness, and at the same time impeccable functionality in combination with light wood – this direction will captivate people in the coming year. Materials with untreated surfaces, natural materials, rough fabrics, mats, interesting weaving, sliding sections and so on. These motifs can easily be found in Japanese-style interiors, while the expression will combine a contrast with soft fabrics. The interior should be balanced and stable. This is a laconic, minimalist, ascetic space, but at the same time softened by cozy shapes and textures,” says Anna Dobrokovskaya, founder and director of the Dobrokovskikh Workshop.

Recycled materials are also in trend: furniture made of cardboard, paper, sponge, recycled plastic, says Tatyana Ponomarenko, founder of pt_buro. She emphasized that craft, artisanship and rough untreated surfaces, such as metal with various types of finishes, are also gaining popularity.

The trend for environmental friendliness and natural materials is moving into 2025. “Loving yourself also means paying attention to the composition of materials: the more environmentally friendly and cleaner they are, the better. Less plastic and adhesive-based finishing materials, and in textiles, an emphasis on cotton, linen, silk and bamboo. Microfiber and water-repellent fabrics are practical, but not as pleasant to the touch. Therefore, when you buy textiles for your home, be sure to touch them, compare them with others, trust your hands. And forget about synthetics! ” – advises the founder and CEO of the full-service interior design bureau Enterio Andrey Kudrin.

Natural materials will stay with us for a long time. There is nothing more stylish than the look of natural wood, and better yet, untreated natural wood. You can look at stone in a different way, Dobrokovskaya emphasized. The texture itself, according to her, can not only decorate your interior, but also boldly combine with another type of stone in the interior. Today, the beauty of every natural feature is interesting, and not the impersonality of the surface.

Next year, soft large sofas and armchairs will be relevant, experts say. “The usual interior sofas that fit perfectly into design concepts often had a low back and a shallow seat, so it was difficult to stretch out and relax on them. We tried all of this, admired the beautiful interiors that resulted, but decided that it was better to use soft, enveloping sofas with the right back height, depth and width for ergonomics,” explains Andrey Kudrin.

Furniture shapes and lines in 2025 still gravitate toward rounded and smooth details and configurations. “This trend was born along with the growth of technology, information stress and visual garbage that flashes before our eyes every day. The shape of furniture with its visual plasticity, the smoothness of simple geometric lines with the addition of soft textures in natural shades cope with this task perfectly. Futurism from the 1970s, curves, rounded details and arched elements in furniture decor will remain in the trends of furniture fashion for quite a long time,” noted Irina Sachek, leading designer of the Rerooms home improvement service.

In 2025, monochrome is going out of fashion, everyone wants a new breath of air, namely, aesthetics in color. Think over the color palette – and it will please you for many years to come, while choosing interesting and non-trivial color combinations, advises Dobrokovskaya. The main thing, according to her, is not to overdo it with color, but to use locally complex shades in the space. “Natural shades also remain with us. At the same time, gray is being replaced by brown. Shades of terracotta, sandstone, clay, imitation of surfaces under daub – all this will remain in fashion for many years. Animal prints in fabric trims will be especially relevant – zebra or leopard. You can choose wallpaper with such a print for one of the walls, ”says the founder of pt_buro Tatyana Ponomarenko.

The use of patterns is another trend of the coming year. “Monochrome bedding sets, which have been preferred by designers all this time, are being replaced by sets with patterns. They need to be chosen carefully, preferably so that the set combines the shades of the interior,” says Andrei Kudrin.
